Programmes of cultural bodies on National Mourning Day

DHAKA, Aug 14, 2018 (BSS) – Different institutions and socio-cultural
organizations have chalked out elaborate programmes in observance of the
National Mourning Day and 43rd martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The programmes include – placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at
Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi-32, photography exhibition featuring
photographs of Father of the Nation, screening of documentary and books on
the life and works of Bangabandhu, discussions, cultural programmes,
recitation of poems, milad and doa mahfil.

Bangla Academy has taken four-day programme starting from Aug 12 marking
the national mourning day. As part of the programme, the academy has
organized an exhibition on its premises where around 500 books on Bangabandhu
are being displayed. On Aug 15, Officers and employees of Bangla Academy will
pay tribute to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at his portrait at Dhanmondi.

In observance of the Day, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy will arrange a
daylong programme. The programmes include- placing wreaths at the portrait of
Bangabandhu, discussion, photography and painting exhibition on Bangabandhu
by various artists.

Besides, Bangladesh National Museum, Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Srabon
Prokashani, Zionkathi Shahitto Ashor, Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote and other
cultural organisations will also pay tributes to Bangabandhu.

Milad and doa mahfil will be held at Bangladesh Shishu Academy marking the
day.

Zionkathi Shahitto Ashor will arrange photography exhibition, recitation of
poems and book exhibition at Shahbagh square. Poet Kazi Rozi, MP, will
inaugurate the programme with artiste Bhashkar Rasha in the chair.

Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote will place wreaths at Bangabandhu mausoleum in
Tungipara marking the day.

A candlelight vigil by Sangskritik Jote will also be held at the Central
Shaheed Minar in the evening on Aug 15. Actress and former Member of
Parliament Sarah Begum Kabari will attend the function as the chief guest.
