Sajjad, Alauddin elected BSS unit chief, dy chief

DHAKA, Aug 14, 2018 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) unit of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) today elected its new unit with Special Correspondent Sajjad Hossain Sabuj and Senior Sub-Editor Kazi Golam Alauddin as its chief and deputy chief for a two-year term.

Earlier, a general meeting was held with outgoing deputy unit chief Ruhul Gani Jyoti in the chair.

The meeting began after observing a one-minute silence praying tributes to Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all other martyrs of August 15, 1975.

Tribute was also paid to BSS former Board of Director and the daily Samakal Editor Golam Sarwar who died in a Singapore Hospital on Monday.

The meeting congratulated the government for forming the 9th Wage Board and reiterated the demand for immediate implementation of the recommended dearness allowances (DA).

BSS Managing Editor Shahriar Shahid, Chief News Editor Anisur Rahman and Deputy Chief Reporter Kanai Chakkrabarti, among others, were present in the meeting.

BSS former unit chief and former chief reporter Ashequn Nabi Chowdhury, BFUJ (Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists) former treasurer Madhusudan Mandal, Member of BSS Board of Director and Special Correspondent Aminul Islam Mirza, News Editor AZM Sarwar Chowdhury, Special Correspondent Mahfuza Jasmine, Senior Reporter Shahidul Islam Rana, BFUJ member Kahiruzzaman Kamal, BFUJ former treasurer Ataur Rahman, Senior Reporter Abu Sayeed and Staff Reporter Mohiuddin Kader spoke in the meeting.
