Entertainment basic human right: Inu

DHAKA, Nov 10, 2017(BSS)-Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said yesterday that entertainment and culture are the basic human rights.

He was speaking at the Bangladesh Children’s Welfare Council premises at a function organized on the occasion of World Children’s Day.

The minister, once again, emphasized the need for a uniform education for all children of Bangladesh and said there is no reason to believe that Bengali medium education produced any inferior human resources than English medium schools and colleges.

He said investing in children is investing in the future of Bangladesh.

He said that basic cultural orientation and training is necessary to keep up with the world.

“One does not have to be a diva like Runa Laila or Abdul Jabbar but one must be able to sing the national anthem”, he said.

He also said that the basic tenets of nationhood must be clear to children so that even if they do not become MPs or ministers they become patriots.

The minister also said that the government is looking into the possibility of establishing a children’s directorate. Till then the women’s and children’s directorate will look after children’s rights.
