All set to observe Mourning Day in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Aug 14, 2018 (BSS) – People are ready to observe the National
Mourning Day-2018 and 43rd martyrdom anniversary of the Architect of
Independence and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in
Rangpur division tomorrow.

The district administrations, Awami League (AL), its associate bodies,
sociocultural, political and professional organisations, educational
institutions, Muktijoddha Sangshad and other organisations will observe the
day, officials said.

The daylong programmes include hoisting of the national flag at half-mast
atop all government, semi-government, autonomous, private buildings and
institutions after the sunrise, hoisting of black flags and wearing of black
badges.

Government officials, leaders of AL and its associate bodies will place
wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the Shaheed Minars and observe one-
minute silence before bringing out mourning processions in the district and
upazila towns and cities.

Discussions on the life and works of Bangabandhu will be arranged in
educational institutions including schools, colleges, madrasas and special
milad mahfil and special prayers will be offered at religious institutions.

The District Information Office will screen documentary films on
‘Chironjib Bangabandhu’, Osomapta Mohakabbyo’, ‘Amader Bangabandhu’,
‘Swadhinota Amar Swadhinota’ and ‘Swadhinota Amader Ki Kore Halo’ and feature
film ‘Guerrilla’ at the cinema halls and open places allover Rangpur
division.

Rangpur and Thakurgaon Betar Kendras will air special programmes, local
newspapers will publish special supplements while competitions on drawing and
essay writings in line with the National Mourning Day will be arranged for
children.

In Rangpur city, the observance will begin with hoisting of the national
flag at half-mast in all government, semi-government, autonomous, private
buildings and educational institutions after the sunrise.

Later, high officials, political leaders, head of different organisations,
institutions and departments and common people will place wreaths at the
Mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the
morning after wearing black badges.

A one-minute silence will be observed in front of Bangabandhu’s Mural and
special munajats will be offered there before bringing out a mourning
procession with participation of thousands of people.

Milad mahfils will be organised and special munajats and prayers will be
offered at mosques, mandirs, churches, pagodas and educational institutions
seeking divine blessings for the departed soul of Bangabandhu.

The Islamic Foundation will organise programmes including recitation from
the Holy Qur’an, Hamd, Naat and Doa mahfil and a special discussion on the
life and works of Bangabandhu.

Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hasan Ahmed will attend the main discussion
at Town Hall auditorium as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Enamul
Habib in the chair.

Deputy Inspector General for Rangpur police Devas Bhattacharya, Police
Super Mizanur Rahman, Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, its
General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, city AL President Shafiur
Rahman Shafi and its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal will address as
special guests.

Similar programmes have been chalked out in observance of the day in other
districts of Kurigram, Gaibandha, Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Panchagarh,
Thakurgaon and Dinajpur under Rangpur division tomorrow.
