3 held with 40kg ganja in Lalmonirhat, Kurigram
RANGPUR, Aug 13, 2018 (BSS) – The law enforcement agencies in two separate
drives seized 40.50 kilogram (kg) smuggled ganja along with a truck and
arrested three drug traffickers from different areas of Lalmonirhat and
Kurigram districts today, officials said.
In Lalmonirhat, Kaliganj Thana police seized 30-kilogram smuggled ganja
with a limestone-laden truck and arrested two drug traffickers from
Chowdhurirhat area under Kaliganj upazila today.
“The arrested drug traffickers are Rakib, 21, of village Konabari under
Joydebpur upazila in Gazipur and Yasin Ali, 20, of village Bhadai Bashintari
under Aditmari upazila in Lalmonirhat districts,” said Officer-in-Charge (OC)
of Kaliganj Thana Mokbul Hossain.
In another raid, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 10.50-kilogram
smuggled ganja with two motorcycles and arrested one drug trafficker from
Purbo Kuthi Chandrakhana frontier area under Fulbari upazila of Kurigram
today.
Company Commander of Kashipur BGB Camp Subedar Shahidul Islam told BSS
that a special BGB patrol party chased two motorcyclists carrying smuggled
ganja and arrested one of them, though the other managed to flee away leaving
his motorcycle.
“The BGB members seized 10.50-kilogram smuggled ganja and the two
motorcycles of the drug traffickers from the spot,” Islam said.
After filing two separate cases against the arrested persons under the
Narcotics Control Act, the law enforcement agencies handed them over to the
respective police stations later today.
