PBI arrest absconding killer of livestock officer

RANGPUR, Aug 13, 2018 (BSS) – Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI)
arrested an absconding killer in connection with a clueless murder case of an
Upazila Livestock Officer from Gaibandha district in the early hours today.

“A special PBI investigation team arrested killer Shaju Mian, 40, from his
village Uttar Rajibpur in Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha district,”
Additional Superintendent of Police of Rangpur PBI Md Shahidullah Kowsar told
BSS.

Kowsar said victim Dr Reaz Uddin Ahmed, 50, had been working in
Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha as Upazila Livestock Officer and used to
attend his office daily by bus from Rangpur.

On November 3, 2017, Dr Reaz was returning home by a bus after office
hours when some members of ‘Malom’ party made him unconscious and snatched
away Taka 40,000 and a mobile phone set.

Dr Reaz was found unconscious after the bus arrived in Rangpur Bus
Terminal when local people rushed him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

“Dr Reaz died at RMCH at 9:50 pm on the same day,” said Kowsar adding that
the victim’s wife filed a murder case in this connection with Rangpur Kotwali
Thana on November, 2017 when police started investigation.

But, the case was later handed over to Rangpur district unit of PBI as
Kotwali Thana could find any clue of the murder case.

“Under supervision of Additional SP Kowsar, the special investigation team
unearthed clue and motive of the case leading to arrest of killer Shaju
Mian,” said PBI Investigation Inspector (IO) Abu Hasan Kabir.

“The arrested person admitted his involvement with the murder and
disclosed names of his other cohorts during interrogation,” the IO said
adding that the arrested killer was sent to jail hajat when produced before a
Rangpur court today.

Efforts were on to nab other absconding killers of the victim, Kabir
added.
