Junior tennis championship begins tomorrow in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Nov 10, 2017 (BSS) – A six-day Rajshahi International Junior Tennis Championship-2017 is going to start at Zafar Imam Tennis Complex tomorrow here. The tennis complex has organised the tournament in association with International Tennis Federation.

A total of 102 players including 27 girls from 13 countries including the host Bangladesh are expected to take part in the tournament.

Some of the major participating countries are: India, China, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, United States of America and Australia. The information was revealed a press conference held at the tennis complex conference hall yesterday. Tournament Director Nur Islam said ITF ranking 34 boys and 22 girls’ players will play main draw directly from draws of 48 boys and 32 girls’ singles.

Six will come from qualifying round and six others after getting wild cards.

Matches of main draw will be held from Monday morning without any break.

Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, Commissioner of Rajshahi division Nur-Ur- Rahman, DIG of Police of Rajshahi Range Khurishd Hossain, Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Mahbubor Rahman and Deputy Commissioner Helal Mahmud Sharif are expected to join the inaugural ceremony in the afternoon.

Tennis Complex Chairman Md Abdullah, Vice-chairman Abdur Rahman and General Secreary Akkash Ali were present at the press conference.
