Terrorist killed in Ctg gunfight

CHATTOGRAM, Aug 11, 2018 (BSS) – A suspected terrorist was killed in a
‘gunfight’ with police at Dudhkumra in Anwara upazila of the district early
Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Nasir alias Mamun, 35, son of Haju
Kalamiah and hailed from Baroshot village of Boalia union under the upazila.

Dulal Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Anwara Police Station, said police
arrested Mamun on Friday afternoon.

Later, based on his confessional statement, a team of police conducted a
drive in the area along with Mamun to recover arms.

When the team reached the area around 1am, a gang of terrorists opened fire
on them, prompting the law enforcers to fire back in self-defense, triggering
the gunfight.

Mamun received bullet while trying to flee and died on the spot. Police
recovered two arms and five round of bullet from the spot.

Two police personnel also received injuries in the incident. The police men
are Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Palash Majumder and Constable Ashikur
Rahman of Anwara thana, the OC said.

Mamun was accused in 18 cases including murder and gang-rape lodged with
various police stations in the city and district. He was a wanted criminal on
the list of city and district police, the OC added.
