Water levels in 34 rivers rise, 53 fall

DHAKA, Aug 11, 2018 (BSS) – Water levels at 34 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise while 53 stations recorded fall.

Among the 94 monitored stations, six river stations have been registered steady, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said here today.

The Brahmaputra-Jamuna rivers are in falling trend which may continue in next 48 hours while the Ganges-Padma rivers are in steady trend which may continue in next 48 hours.

The Surma-Kushiyara rivers of the upper Meghna basin are in rising trend. The Kushiyara river of the Upper Meghna basin may continue rising in next 24 hours and while the other major rivers may fall

Significant rainfall was recorded at some stations in different districts during the last 24-hour ending at 6 am today, the bulletin added.

A total of 139 millimeters (mm) rainfall was recorded at Zakiganj, 59mm at Lallakhal, 101 mm at Chattak and 38mm Sylhet.
