BRAHMANBARIA, Aug 10, 2018 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today said BNP-Jamaat and their cohorts tried to topple government by inciting the recent movement of the students.
“Recently the students took to the street after the sad death of two students in road accident. They had demanded for Road Transport Act and the cabinet has already approved the draft as part of accepting their demand after giving support to their legitimate movement,” he said.
The minister said these while addressing a rally marking National Mourning Day at Kasba Mulgram union in Brahmanbaria this morning.
“The next general election will be held in December. But BNP-Jamaat and their cohorts are trying to make the election commission disputed by raising ridiculous allegations like the polls will not be fair,” he added.
Recalling memories of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with his (Anisul’s) father Advocate Serajul Huq, the law minister said Huq had told Bangabandhu not to confess any crimes and to plead not guilty before the court in sixty’s.
“But when the judge asked him whether he is pleading guilty or not, Bangabandhu had said whatever I did for the people of Bangla were correct. This was Bangabandhu, who never bowed down to any wrong,” Anisul said.
The minister said like her father, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina too never makes any compromise with any unjust, adding, “She has introduced Bangladesh as a developed nation to the world. God willing, we will become a developed country under her leadership in 2041.”
Presided over by Mulgram union Awami League president Md Shah Alam, the rally was addressed by Uttara Group chairman Motiur Rahman, Upazila chairman Anisul Haque, Awami League leaders MG Hakkani, Qazi Azharul Islam and Shahin Sultana, among others.
