JS body for steps to keep parliament area clean

DHAKA, Aug 9, 2018 (BSS) – The Parliamentary Committee on the Jatiya
Sangsad (JS) today recommended that Public Works Department (PWD) should take
effective measures for keeping the surrounding areas of the parliament clean
and secured.

The committee made the recommendation at its 13th meeting held at the
Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its Chairman Chief Whip AFM Feroz in the chair,
said an official release.

The meeting discussed the overall security of the JS, facilities given to
the MPs, traffic system at different points and PWD’s activities in
parliament area.

A progress report on implementation of the decisions taken in the 12th
meeting was presented in the meeting and discussion was held on the report.

The committee also recommended taking effective steps by the the Sergeant
at Arms to give the highest priority to the security of the JS, MPs and JS
Bhaban and keep Chandrima Udyan and Bijoy Smarani corner’s gate open for the
movement of MPs and guests.

The committee also recommended taking steps to employ traffic police all
time at the entry points of the JS.

It also urged the PWD to inform the committee members before starting
any work in the JS to ensure transparency and accountability.

Committee members Md Tajul Islam Choudhury, Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury,
Mahabub Ara Begum Gini, Panchanan Biswas, Talukder MdYunus and Nazmul Haque
Prodhan attended the meeting.
