DHAKA, Aug 9, 2018 (BSS) – Social Welfare Minister and Bangladesh Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon today branded Jamaat-e-Islami as a political evil force and said its conspiracy had acted behind the assassination of Bangabandhu.

“Bangabandhu founded Bangladesh as a secular state, Zia rehabilitated religion based Jamaat-e-Islami in politics and Begum Zia established Jamaat in the state power. The conspiracy of this political evil force had acted behind the assassination of Bangabandhu,” he said.

The minister said this in a meeting with some thana and ward leaders of Awami League at his Minto road residence here this afternoon.

The dirty politics of BNP-Jamaat is still continuing in the country, he said. “We have to uproot this ‘poisonous tree’ from the state and the society,” he added.

Referring to the recent student movement, Menon said, “The BNP itself could not forge any movement and so taking its advantage they tried to create an unstable situation in the country.”

“For the purpose, Jamaat also brought Shibir activists in the capital. But their ill attempt failed,” he said.

Menon said the BNP-Jamaat evil forces will also try to create anarchy in the country before the upcoming parliament elections, adding that the Awami League along with other 14-party components should face the situation together.

Chaired by Mothijheel thana Awami League President Basirul Alam Khan Babul, the meeting was also addressed, among others, by Mothijheel thana general secretary Sabbir Hossain, Shahjahanpur thana general secretary Abdul Mukit Hawlader Hridoy, Paltan thana president Enamul Haq Abul and ward AL leaders.
