32 individuals, organisations to get Bangabandhu Jatiya Krishi Puroshker

DHAKA, Aug 9,2018 (BSS) – Thirty two individuals and organisations will be
awarded “Bangabandhu Jatiya Krishi Puroshker-1424”, the highest state
recognition in the agriculture sector.

Five gold medals, nine silver medals and eighteen bronze medals will be
awarded for outstanding contribution to different fields in agriculture
sector.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Agriculture Minister
Begum Matia Chowdhury who is also chairman of “Bangabandhu Krishi Puroshker
Trust”.

In 1973, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
introduced the award in order to take forward the agro-based economy of the
newly independent country.

The present Awami League government framed “ The Bangabandhu Jatiya
Krishi Purashker Tahabil Ain-2009” giving institutional shape to the award
introduced by Bangabandhu.

The Bangabandhu Jatiya Krishi Purashker Trust Law, 2016 was enacted to
make the activities more dynamic.

Board members Fisheries and Livestock Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda,
MP, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, MP,
and AKM Jahangir Hossain, MP and Abdul Mannan, MP and Sher-e-Bangla
Agricultural University and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural
University vice-chancellors were present.
