DHAKA, Aug 9, 2018 (BSS) – Visiting Commonwealth Secretary General Patricia Scotland QC today
favoured introduction of the Commonwealth Cricket League and formation of the Commonwealth
Cricket Club for further development of the popular games in the Commonwealth states.

“We should introduce the Commonwealth Cricket League and form a Commonwealth Cricket Club as
the cricket is a better medium of exposure for both boys and girls,” she said as she paid a courtesy call
on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office here this morning.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said the prime minister and
the Commonwealth secretary general had long discussion on the cricket apart from other issues.

Putting emphasis on more practice of cricket by the girls in the Commonwealth states, Patricia
Scotland said that it will enhance their confidence and determination further.

The Commonwealth secretary general highly praised Bangladesh’s recent success in cricket.

In this regard, Sheikh Hasina said not only cricket, her government is promoting all kinds of games and
sports in the country.

She said that the Bangladesh women cricket team clinched the Asia Cup Championship recently. “Our
men’s team is also doing well,” she said.

PM’s Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman was present at the meeting among others.
