Light to moderate rain likely over country

DHAKA, Aug 9, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD)
today predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by
temporary gusty wind at some places throughout the country in next 24 hours
as of 9 am tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty
wind is likely to occur at few places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and
Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka and
Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country
in the next 24 hours commencing at 9 am today,” said a BMD press release
here.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country,
the release added.

According to the release, the axis of monsoon trough runs through
Rajsthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West-Bengal to Assam across northern part of
Bangladesh while one of its associated troughs extends up to northeast Bay.
Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over North Bay.

The maximum temperature was recorded 35.4 degrees celsius yesterday while
today’s minimum temperature 25.0 degrees Celsius also at Sylhet as well. The
highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 12 mm at
Sitakunda in Chattogram division.

The sun sets at 6:36 pm today and rises at 5:32am tomorrow in the
capital.
