DHAKA, Nov 7, 2017 (BSS) – A full bench of the Appellate Division is scheduled to hold hearing on February 5 on the High Court verdict that asked authorities concerned to pay family of ill-fated child Jihad, who died falling into an open pipe in capital’s Shahjahanpur area in 2014.

Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain of Appellate Division Chamber Judge Court fixed the date after sending the matter to the apex court full bench for further hearing.

“The Appellate Division Chamber Judge Court didn’t stay the High Court order for giving Jihad’s family Taka 20 lakh in compensation. So the verdict is still valid,” said advocate Md Abdul Halim.

The High Court on February 18, 2016, had passed the order, asking Bangladesh Railway and Fire Service and Civil Defence authorities to give Jihad’a family Taka 10 lakh each in compensation.

The court came up with the order as advocate Halim filed a writ for Children Charity Bangladesh Foundation, seeking court’s direction for giving Jihad’s family Taka 30 lakh in compensation.
