Steps for quicker disposal of animal wastes in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Aug 09, 2018 (BSS) – Adequate steps have been taken for
slaughtering sacrificial animals at 99 fixed spots in all 33 wards of Rangpur
city and quicker disposal of animal wastes during the upcoming Eid-ul- Azha.

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa said this at a views-sharing
meeting on ‘Slaughtering of Sacrificial Animals at Fixed Places and Quicker
Disposal of Wastes during Eid-ul-Azha ‘ held at Nagar Bhaban on Wednesday
afternoon as chief guest.

With Chief Executive Officer of Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) Akhter
Hossain Azad in the chair, City Councilors, Female City Councilors, officials
and employees attended the event.

Panel Mayor Shamsul Haque, Secretary of RpCC Abu Saleh Md Musa Jongi,
its Superintending Engineer Amdad Hossain, Chief Health Officer Dr
Kamruzzaman Ibne Taz and Assistant Director of Islamic Foundation Shamsul
Haque addressed.

Akhter Hossain delivered welcome speech narrating experiences of
sacrificial animal waste management in previous years and plans for fixing 99
spots in all 33 wards of the city for slaughtering sacrificial animals and
quicker removal of wastes this year.

Dr Taz discussed on importance of ensuring hygienic management of
sacrificial animal wastes to maintain cleanliness and help minimise health
hazards with associated risks and prevent environmental contamination.

Mayor Mostafa said 110 Imams and 110 butchers would be available at all
99 slaughtering spots in all 33 wards of the city where around 2,000
sacrificial animals might be slaughtered during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

“To make the city free from animal wastes within a maximum period of 48
hours, we will engage 25 vehicles to carry wastes and 1,000 cleaners and
workers and anybody can communicate at hotline number 01727898190 to get
assistance,” he said.

Seeking spontaneous cooperation of the citizens, Mostafa put special
importance on ensuring quicker disposal of the sacrificial animal wastes in a
hygienic way to maintain cleanliness and help minimize health hazards and
keep the city clean.
