Kremlin confirms Moscow received Donald Trump’s letter

NOVO-OGARYOVO, Aug 9, 2018 (BSSTASS) – A letter for Russian President
Vladimir Putin from U.S. President Donald Trump has been delivered to the
Russian side through diplomatic channels, but the Kremlin has not
familiarized itself with the letter as of yet, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry
Peskov confirmed on Wednesday.

“Yes, indeed the letter was received through diplomatic channels. We
expect that the president’s administration will receive it shortly,” Peskov
said.

“I was honored to deliver a letter from President Trump to President
Vladimir Putin’s administration,” Paul wrote. “The letter emphasized the
importance of further engagement in various areas including countering
terrorism, enhancing legislative dialogue and resuming cultural exchanges,”
he tweeted.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on July 27 that he was ready to meet
U.S. leader Donald Trump both in Washington and in Moscow. President Putin
has already extended an invitation to Trump to visit the Russian capital.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in turn that Donald Trump
would be able to visit Moscow for meeting Putin upon receiving an official
invitation and hoped to meet his Russian counterpart in Washington after
January 1, 2019.

The summit meeting of Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Helsinki on July
16 was the first full-fledged Russian-US summit during Trump’s presidency.
Prior to that the leaders had their first talks on the sidelines of a G20
summit in Hamburg in July 2017, and then they had a conversation on the
sidelines of an APEC summit in Vietnam last November.
