DNCC sets up speed breakers, zebra crossings in city
DHAKA, August 08, 2018 (BSS) – Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) today started constructing speed breakers on the roads in and around educational institutions and also on appropriate places to help enable passers-by cross roads safely and stop road accidents.
As part of the government’s campaign to ensure road safety, the DNCC started such works through establishing a zebra crossing on the main road of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment School and College.
Talking to BSS, Chief Executive Officer of DNCC M Mejbaul Islam said the DNCC would set up speed breakers and zebra crossings in the city’s education institutions and necessary places.
“We have undertaken such a programme to ensure safe roads for people
and stop road accidents. We will put speed breakers and zebra crossings under DNCC’s area in collaboration with Dhaka Metropolitan Police,” he said.
Side by side, he said, the DNCC authority would repair all damaged speed breakers and zebra crossings.
Among others, DNCC’s mayors of the panel list Mostafa Jamal and Aleya Sarwar Daizy, Chief Engineer Brigadier General M Sayeed Anwarul Islam and Principal of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment School and College Noor Nahar Yeasmin were present.
