DHAKA, Aug 8, 2018 (BSS) – Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today
directed the authorities of private universities to motivate the students
giving them love and affection to refrain from evil forces.

“All including teachers, members of the trustee boards of private
universities and guardians have responsibilities to show them the right path
intensifying their motivational campaign,” he told a view-exchange meeting
with vice chancellors and pro-vice chancellors of private universities at the
International Mother Language Institute (IMLI) here.

Secretary of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Division Md Sohrab
Hossain, vice-chancellors and pro-vice chancellors of private universities,
among others, addressed the meeting with UGC Chairman Professor Dr Abdul
Mannan in the chair.

As the government has accepted all demands of the students and it is
sincerely working for their implementation to bring discipline in the
transport sector, Nahid said adding, “The government has already fulfilled
some demands…..While some demands are underway.”

Referring to movements of private universities on August 6, he said, “There
is no need to continue the protests after the nine-point demand of the
students were accepted…..A vested quarter has instigated the students to
destabilize the stable situation in the country to gain ill political
motive.”

The government is very carefully dealing with the logical demands of the
students so that the vested quarter cannot misguide the students to serve
their own purposes, the minister added.

Nahid said, “Teachers are the driving forces in the education sector…..
So, you (teacher) have to motivate the students to maintain peaceful academic
atmosphere on campuses of the universities.”
