Bangamata was source of inspiration to Bangabandhu: Qamrul
DHAKA, Aug 8,2018 (BSS) – Food Minister Advocate Qamrul Islam today said
Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib had tremendous contribution towards
making Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as Father of the Nation and she was
source of inspirations of every work to the great leader of the Bangali
nation.
He said she took many significant decisions when Bangabandhu was in
jail, the Minister said this while addressing a reminiscence meeting
organided by the Bangabandhu Shangskritik Jote marking the 88th birth
anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, wife of Bangabandhu, at
National Press Club here.
About students ‘safe road movement’, the Minister said, “We supported the
movement on first and second day… Some students tried to lead the movement
to another direction and took attempts to create anarchy across the country.
But they failed.”
“The law enforcement agencies showed enough patience. If the vested
quarter tries to create unstable situation, the government will not spare
them,” he added.
“In the month of August, the vested quarter tries to hatch conspiracy
against Awami League” said Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary
Dr Hasan Mahmud while speaking at the event as the chief guest.
Attacks on Awami League on August 21, 2004 and bomb blasts across the
country on 17 August, 2005 were parts of these conspiracies, Hasan added.
With Chitta Ranjon Das in the chair the meeting was addressed, among
others, by Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, actress Oruna Biswas and
Singer SD Rubel.
