DHAKA, Aug 8, 2018 (BSS)- Professor Dr Peter Sammonds, director of
Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction, University College London (UCL) in
the United Kingdom (UK) today called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor
(VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman at the latter’s office.
During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint
collaborative academic and research programmes on “Disaster risk reduction,
Rohingya crisis and crisis management” by the University of Dhaka and
University College London (UCL), UK.
They have agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this
regard.
Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences of DU Prof Dr ASM
Maksud Kamal and Chairman of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies Md
Touhidul Islam were present on the occasion.
Earlier, Prof Dr Peter Sammonds delivered lecturer in a workshop on
“Earthquake Induced Hazard: Mitigation and Response Approach” organised by
the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences of DU.
