DHAKA, Nov 6, 2017 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim today urged the United Nations (UN) to create pressure on Myanmar government to take Rohingyas back to their motherland Rakhine state.

“Create more pressure on Myanmar government so that they take the Rohingyas back to their own country within the shortest possible time,” he said.

Nasim said this while talking to UN Under-Secretary-General Pramilla Patten when the latter paid a courtesy call at secretariat here, said a press release.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given shelters to Rohingyas with her motherly affection on humanitarian ground. We are providing them with accommodation, food and medical supports. But, it will not be possible to continue the support for a long,” Nasim said.

The government mobilised 78 medical teams to provide healthcare services to Rohingyas who have been forcibly displaced by Myanmar government, he said, adding that a total of 231 teams administered vaccines among seven lakh Rohingya children, he added.

“Myanmar has a barbaric government who are killing their own people and making them bound to leave their own country…but it is the time to rehabilitate them properly after taking them back,” Nasim added.

Secretary of the ministry (Service) Serajul Huq Khan, Secretary (health education) Fayez Ahmmed and UN Resident Coordinator Miah Seppo were present, among others.
