DHAKA, Aug 7, 2018 (BSS) – Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar,
Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number
three as a well marked low over northwest bay and adjoining west Bengal-
Odisha Coast is moving towards North or North-Westerly direction.
“The low over north bay and adjoining area has intensified into a well
marked low over northwest bay and adjoining west Bengal-Odisha Coast… It is
likely to intensify further and move in a north or north-westerly direction.
Under its influence steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay and
adjoining area,” said a met office warning message here today.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain
close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are
also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
Meanwhile, River ports in three districts across the country have also been
asked to hoist cautionary signal number two as rain accompanied with gusty or
squally wind is likely occur in many places till 6 pm today.
“Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary South or South-Easterly
gusty or squally wind speed 60-80 kph is likely to occur in the regions of
Khulna, Barishal and Patuakhali till 6pm today,” said a met office press
release here this morning.
Moreover, rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary South or South-
Easterly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 kph is likely to occur elsewhere
over the country wherein river ports shall hoist cautionary signal number
one, it also said.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
The maximum temperature was recorded 34.9 degrees Celsius yesterday at
Dhaka while today’s minimum temperature 24.4 degrees Celsius at Tetulia in
Rangpur division.
The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded
39mm at Bogura in Rajshahi division, the release added.
The sun sets at 6:38 pm today and rises at 5:31 am tomorrow in the
capital.
