Bangabandhu’s March 7 speech direction for independence, say AL leaders

RANGPUR, Mar 06, 2017 (BSS) – Leaders of Awami League (AL) here today said the historic March 7 speech of Bangabandhu gave a concrete direction for launching struggle to achieve ultimate national independence through the War of Liberation.

They came up with the opinion at a rally held at Bangabandhu Square in the city marking the Memory of the World International Register maintained by UNESCO. District and city units of AL arranged the event.

Earlier, hundreds of leaders and activists of the district units of AL, Mohila AL, Chhatra League, Juba League, Swechchasebak League, Krishak League and other associate bodies participated in the rally that paraded the main city streets.

Member of the Advisory Council of central committee of AL Chowdhury Khalequzzaman attended the discussion as the chief guest with President of city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi in the chair.

Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, its General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, General Secretary of city AL Tushar Kanti Mandal, President of district Mohila Mortuza Begum and its General Secretary Advocate Zakia Sultana Choite, addressed the event, among others.

The chief guest called upon the leaders and activists of AL and its associate bodies for working unitedly to build up a middle-income nation by 2021, and subsequently a developed country by 2041, as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Other speakers said recognition of Bangabandhu’s historic March 7 speech as an important world documentary heritage by the UNESCO is a matter of great pride for the Bangali nation and Bangla language.
