CHATTOGRAM, Aug 06, 2018 (BSS) – A Chattogram court today placed the detained former Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker and its central leader Shahjahan Chowdhury and seven other leaders and activists on remand.

The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Shafiuddin placed Shahjahan Chowdhury and another Jamaat leader Abu Taher Bhuiyan on a two- day remand each when the investigating officer prayed for a ten-day remand for the eight arrestees.

The court, however, granted to place six other detainees on a three-day remand.

Earlier, a team of DB police raided a residence in Wireless Murgi Farm area under Khulshi thana on August 3 and arrested Shahjahan along with the seven leaders and activists of Jammat Islami on sabotage charge.
