Met office predicts rain across country until early tomorrow

DHAKA, Aug 6, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (MBD) today
predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary
gusty wind at many places throughout the country in next 24 hours as of 9 am
tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty
wind is likely to occur at many places in Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and
Rangpur divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and
Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at some places across the
country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9 am today,” said a met press
release issued here this morning.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the
release added.

It also said monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate to
strong over North Bay while a low has formed over Northwest Bay and adjoining
area. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Hariyana, Uttar
Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, the centre of the low thence northeastwards to
Assam across Bangladesh.

The maximum temperature was recorded 36.2 degrees Celsius yesterday at
Jashore in Khulna division while today’s minimum temperature 25.3 degrees
Celsius at Srimangal in Sylhet division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 61
mm at Dimla in Rangpur division.

The sun sets at 6:39 pm today and rises at 5:30 am tomorrow in the capital.
