3 JMB men put on 3-day remand in Kurigram

RANGPUR, Aug 05, 2018 (BSS) – Three alleged top operatives of the military wing of outlawed Jama’atul Mujahedeen Bangladesh (JMB) were taken on three-day remand today by Dhushmara Thana police in Kurigram, police said.

Earlier, the Detective Branch (DB) of Bogra Police in association with local police arrested the JMB operatives from Diyarar char on the Brahmaputra riverbed area in Rajibpur upazila of Kurigram at night on August 2 last.

The JMB operatives were Chief of Kurigram district (Esaba) military wing of the outfit organisation Tofazzal Hossain Tota Mian, 30, In-charge of its Dhusmara Thana wing Rafikul Islam, 40, and ‘Dawah’ member Abdul Hamid, 60.

During the raid, police also seized a foreign-made pistol with four rounds bullets and two magazines, one-kg explosive powder and half a litre of sulfuric acid from their possessions, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhushmara Thana Mohammad Ruhani.

After primary interrogation, Sub-inspector Feroz of Bogra DB police filed a case against the JMB men and handed them over to Dhushmara Thana police on the next day.

Later, Investigation officer of the case and OC of Dhushmara Thana Mohammad Ruhani produced the arrested JMB operatives before the Court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Kurigram Mizanur Rahman with a prayer of 7-day police remand today.

After hearing on the prayer, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Mizanur Rahman granted three-day police remand, Ruhani said.
