DHAKA, Aug 05, 2018 (BSS) – Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon today said the transport system of capital Dhaka will be brought under six companies as per the plan of late DNCC mayor Annisul Huq to make the system more disciplined.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given directives to bring the transport system in the capital under six companies following the plan of late Dhaka North City Corporation mayor Annisul Huq,” he told a press conference at Nagar Bhaban here ahead of an open discussion on “road safety” to be held tomorrow.
Khokon said the prime minister has given directives to the LGRD Ministry in this regard and it (the ministry) will finalize the matter in a meeting tomorrow.
About the students’ movement demanding safe roads, the DSCC mayor said the movement is very much logical and fair.
But, perpetrators are out to turn the non-violent movement into a violent one through hatching conspiracies, he added.
He urged the elected public representatives along with the guardians and opinion leaders to resist the conspiracies.
DSCC will arrange an open discussion on road safety at the Nagar Bhaban at 11am tomorrow.
