Nahid asks teachers to motivate students for returning to classes

DHAKA, Aug 05, 2018 (BSS) – Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today directed the

authorities of schools and colleges to play more active roles for helping return agitating

students to classrooms through motivating them.

“Students should not continue their ongoing protest as they have become victorious….

So there is no need to stay on streets,” he told a view-exchange meeting with heads of the

educational institutions in the Dhaka city at the International Mother Language Institute

(IMLI).

Secretary of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Division Md Sohrab Hossain

conducted the meeting with Director General of Directorate of Secondary and Higher

Secondary Education Prof Md Mahabubur Rahman in the chair.

Principals, vice principals, headmasters and assistant headmasters took part in the

meetings. The meetings were held in phases.

As the government has accepted all demands of the students and it is sincerely working

for their implementation to bring discipline in the transport sector, Nahid said asking

the students to return to classes from tomorrow staying away from demonstrations.

“Teachers are the driving forces in the education sector….. So, you (teacher) have to

motivate the students to return to classes,” he added.

The education minister said the successes of the students achieved through their

demonstrations might be jeopardized if they (students) continue to stay on streets.

Nahid warned that a vested quarter might mislead the demonstrating students to serve

their ulterior motive if the teachers, parents and students fail to remain alert in this

regard.

At the meeting, heads of the educational instructions said they would be able to

convince their students to return to their classes as they have bright future.

They urged all sections of people, including guardians, to show the students the right

path for building them as worthy citizens of the country.
