BNP, Jamaat plotting to capture power: Quader

DHAKA, Aug 05, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said BNP and Jamaat are drawing a blueprint to capture the state power riding on different non-political movements.

“No conspiracy will succeed in the face of our united strength. We will show our patience and will not heed to instigations of others…I urge all leaders and workers of Awami League to have patience and remain alert against any conspiracy,” he said, speaking at a press conference at AL president’s political office in Dhanmondi here.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said BNP has proved that they want to give the students’ non-political movement a political shape.

They (BNP) rode on different non-political movements at different times to capture power as they have failed to wage any movement against the government in the last nine years, Quader said, adding a few days ago, BNP rode on the movement of quota reformists and now they are riding on the student’s movement.

He said BNP has begun the movement of ousting the government riding on the student’s non-political movement.

He said BNP and Jamaat got the AL president’s political office in Dhanmondi attacked by their student wings as per their plan. But their conspiracy has failed as police refrained them, he added.

He said BNP is related with the attack on AL office on Saturday which left 17 AL workers injured. Among the injured, the condition of one Arafat Bappi is critical and his two eyes were damaged, he added.

AL Joint General Secretaries Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman, Organizing Secretaries Ahmad Hossain, BM Mozammel Haque, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and AKM Anamul Haque Shamim, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Cultural Affairs Secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi and Science and Technology Affairs Secretary Engineer Abdus Sabur, among others, were present in the press conference.
