President stresses proper use of public money
DHAKA, Aug 5, 2018 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today stressed the need for ensuring accountability and transparency in financial dealings as newly appointed Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of Bangladesh Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban this evening.
“Ensure proper use of public money . . . You have to perform audit activities timely,” his Press Secretary Joynal Abedin quoted the President as saying during the meeting with the CAG.
President Hamid asked the CAG and others concerned to ensure that the public money used in country’s socio-economic development is spent as per the rules and regulations.
Referring to the role of CAG in spending public money, Abdul Hamid advised the CAG to take special measures to settle the audit objections within the stipulated timeframe.
The CAG sought all-out cooperation of the President in discharging his duties in a proper manner.
Secretaries concerned to the President were also present.
