VIENNA, Aug. 5, 2018 (BSS/Xinhua) – The current heat wave in Austria is
expected to persist into next week with temperatures expected to increase
further, weather authority UBIMET said on Saturday.

Temperature highs since the heat wave began about ten days ago have
typically ranged in the low-to-mid 30’s, with a nationwide high of 36 degrees
seen in Innsbruck on Tuesday.

UBIMET expects temperatures to soar further, potentially reaching a year-
high 38 degrees in some parts of the country by the middle of next week.

The western part of the country should see cooler weather by Friday,
though the east will have to reckon with a continuation of the present heat
until at least next weekend.

UBIMET head meteorologist Manfred Spatzierer said thunderstorms throughout
the week will also provide a temporary cooling of the weather, though in some
instances these storms may also be severe, bringing hail and heavy winds.
