DUTA urge students to return to classrooms

DHAKA, August 04, 2018 (BSS) – Dhaka University Teachers Association (DUTA) here today urged all students, who are protesting on streets, to go back to homes and classrooms.

“We urge the guardians and concerned teachers to call upon their children to go back to their homes and classrooms. You have to be careful so that the students-future of our nation- do not fall prey to any conspiracy,” DUTA said in a statement today signed by DUTA president Prof ASM Maksud Kamal and general secretary Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam.

The teachers’ body also urged the transport owners and workers not to hold the general public hostage and not to maximize public sufferings through continuing the ongoing undeclared transport impasse.

“Under such circumstances, we are very much anxious about your security. ….You have triumphed and become the part of history through the movement,” said the DUTA statement.

Earlier, on August 2, DUTA demanded to take tougher actions against those involved in irregularities and corruption in the transport sector and traffic management.

They said that transport owners and workers must be compelled to obey the rules and road transportation management must be strengthened for safe roads and communication.

Leaders and activists of DU unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League today distributed sweets and chocolates among the protesting students in Shahbagh area and called upon them to go back to their classrooms.
