DHAKA, August 4, 2018 (BSS) – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today
called “entirely baseless” a Facebook propagation that four female students were
abducted and taken to hostages and eyes of a boy were gouged out at Awami
League’s Dhanmondi Office.

“This propaganda is entirely baseless . . . a ‘facebook production,'” he
told BSS over phone this evening accusing vested quarters of spreading the
rumour.

He said a strong police contingent led by a senior officer along with
students and journalists entered the venue as the rumour spread and carried out
a frantic search at each of the rooms of the office “but found nothing”.

“A vested quarter has been spreading rumors to meddle the current students’
movement over the unfortunate deaths of two teenage students in the last week’s
bus crash in front of Radisson Hotel,” Kamal said.

The minster’s comments came after a group of students attacked the AL
Dhanmondi Office following as the rumor broke out while Kamal said this was
sparked by two fake videos uploaded on the Facebook.
