BGB-BSF border coordination conference begins

DHAKA, Aug 3, 2018 (BSS) – A border coordination conference between Jessore
and Rangpur regions commanders of BGB and frontier IGs of North Bengal, South
Bengal and Guwahati frontiers of Indian BSF began today at Siliguri, India.

Additional Director General and Region Commander of South-West Region of
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Nahidul Islam Khan, BSP, NDC, PSC, is leading a
12-member Bangladesh delegation, a BGB release said here.

Region Commanders of the BGB North-West Region, concerned sector
commanders, staff officers and representatives from home and foreign
ministries are taking part in the conference as part of Bangladesh
delegation.

On the other hand, the 17-member Border Security Force (BSF) delegation is
being led by its South Bengal Frontier Inspector General Dr Rajesh Mishra,
IPS.

The two frontier forces of the two brotherly nations are scheduled to
discuss shooting at unarmed Bangladeshis and subsequently killing them on
border, detention of Bangladeshis, smuggling of drugs, arms and ammunition,
illegal crossing of borders, raising of barbwire fences along the border,
various development works within 150 yards of the border, organising
different sports competition between the members of the two forces to build
trust among themselves and holding joint exercise in the conference which
going to end in August 6.

The Bangladesh delegation is scheduled to return home on August 6.
