BRTA cancel registration of two Jabal-e-Noor buses

DHAKA, Aug 1, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has cancelled the registration and route permit of two buses of Jabal-e Noor transport company after the death incident of two students who were run over by the bus at city’s airport road area.

BRTA Chairman M Mashiur Rahman made this announcement while the authority conducted drive against the vehicles plying on the city streets without having fitness at Manik Mia Avenue here this morning.

“The registration of two buses own by the Jabal-e-Noor company has been cancelled for the death incident of two students,” said M Masud Alam, Deputy Director of the BRTA. The process of cancelling licenses of these two buses has also been initiated, he added.

In addition to this, the BRTA has also conducting 6-7 mobile courts in the capital to stop plying of the vehicles which had no fitness and license, said the official.

During the drive, the BRTA-led mobile courts realized Taka 1.20 lakh as fines and imprisoned 18 drivers and filed seven cases.

On Sunday, two students of Shahid Ramiz Uddin College were killed by the bus of Jabal-e-Noor transport at city’s Kurmitola airport area. Few more students were also injured during the incident.
