Online registration for DU admission tests begins

DHAKA, July 31, 2018 (BSS) – The online application process for
admission into first year honour’s courses in different disciplines of Dhaka
University (DU) under the 2018-19 academic session began today.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman formally inaugurated the
application process at 5:30 pm at the central admission office at
administrative building on the campus.

Admission seekers can apply online from 5:30 pm today while the process
will continue till 12 am on August 26.

Eligible students will have to pay Tk 350 (including bank and IT charge)
for each unit through four state-run banks – Sonali, Agrani, Janata and
Rupali.

Students can download their admit cards of ‘Ga’ and ‘Cha’ units from
September 5 till examinations’ date 9:00 am while the admit cards of in ‘Ka’,
‘Kha’ and ‘Gha’ from 10 September till exams’ date 9:00 am.

This year, a total of 7,128 seats are available while 1,750 seats for
Ka (Science) unit, 2,378 for Kha (Arts) unit, 1,250 for Ga (Business) unit,
1,615 for ‘Gha (combined) unit and 135 for Fine Arts faculty.

The qualifications of candidates to apply for admission are same like
the previous year, Prof Akhtaruzzaman said.

“No electronic devices, including calculator, mobile phone, electronic
watch, will be allowed into the exam halls. Like previous years, metal
detectors will be set up at every entrance of the exam halls to check any
‘digital forgery’ and mobile court will be deployed during exams,” he said.

He said if any student will take ‘unfair means’ during test, he or she
will be brought to justice, adding that plain-clothes detectives will be
deployed during admission tests this year.

Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Samad, Treasurer Prof Dr Md
Kamal Uddin, Convener of Online Admission Committee Prof Dr Md Hasibur
Rashid, deans of different faculties, chairmen of different departments,
directors of DU institutes, acting registrars, and the DU proctor were, among
others, present at the meeting.

The admission tests will begin on September 14 with entry test of
Business Studies faculty disciplines under “Ga-Unit” while admission test of
general knowledge for Fine Arts Faculty under “Cha-Unit” on September 15.

The test of “Kha-Unit” for admission into different disinclines under Arts
and Social Sciences faculties will be held on September 21 while admission
test of drawing for Fine Arts Faculty under “Cha-Unit” on September 22.

“Ka-Unit” admission test for science group students will be held on
September 28 and “Gha-Unit” (combined unit) tests for science, business
studies and humanities groups’ students on October 12.
