8 electrocuted in Sirajganj

SIRAJGANJ, July 31, 2018 (BSS) – Eight people were electrocuted at a
village in Sirajganj Sadar upazila as they came in touch of a wired tin roof
of a grocery stall which they were shifting to a nearby location.

Police said some 12 people joined their hands in moving the shop when its
tin roof came in touch with a hanging electric wire.

“They all were wounded and rushed to Upazila Sadar Hospital where doctors
declared eight of them dead,” Sirajganj Sadar police station’s officer-in-
charge Mohammad Daud told newsmen.

Resident doctor of the facility Faridul Islam, however, said the eight
apparently died by the time they were brought to the hospital, where the
other wounded were being treated.

Daud said three of the dead were students, four were labourers and one was
a local trader and all were residents of neighbourhood.

Deputy commissioner of Sirajganj Kamrunnahar Siddiqua declared to offer
Taka 25,000 for each of the families of those electrocuted.

According to police the dead were Momin, 30, Rafikul, 32, Sanwar, 30,
Sajib, 14, Abdullah, 16, Raju, 16, Sanu, 21, and Abdus Sattar, 50.
