BD has sufficient skilled labourers in garments sector: Nurul

DHAKA, July 29, 2018 (BSS) – Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc said that Bangladesh has sufficient skilled labourers in the garments sector, according to a press release received here today.

“European countries can be a potential labour market for the skilled garment labourers of Bangladesh,” the minister said on Saturday while exchanging views with Bangladeshi labourers during a visit to two garments factories in Rome, Italy.

“Participate in the country’s development through sending your hard-earned remittance in a legal way,” he urged the expatriate workers.

He asked the expatriate workers to become members of Wage Earners’ Welfare Board, a government welfare board for expatriate workers.

While visiting the two factories where over five hundred labourers are working, the minister listened to various problems of the workers and assured them of solving the problems.

There are several hundred garment factories in Italy where over 5000 Bangladeshi labourers are now working.

A six-member team led by Nurul Islam left Dhaka on July 20. They are likely to return home on July 31.
