Bangladesh role model in facing climate change hazards: Experts

KHULNA, July 29, 2018 (BSS) – Experts at a workshop here today dubbed Bangladesh as a role model in facing problems being triggered by climate change.

They said Bangladesh is facing onslaughts of different natural disasters due to climate change and in view of this reality common people of the country have devised different methods and techniques to cope with the calamities.

Researcher and Professor of International Center For Climate Change (ICCC) of Independent University Sarder Shafiqul Alam spoke on the occasion.

In his speech, Alam said many researchers of developed countries use to visit Bangladesh to enrich their skills in disaster management.

Department of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) in Khulna organized the workshop on Climate Change Hazards, Impact and Adaptation, under the Coastal Climate Resilient Project and financed by Asian Development Bank(ADB) at Khulna Circuit House.

Executive Engineer of LGED Rakibul Islam chaired the workshop while Deputy Director of LGED in Khulna addressed as chief guest. Additional Police Super Badiuzzaman, among others, also spoke.

Government and NGO officials, leaders of different professional bodies attended the workshop.
