Jabbar for observing July 29 as National Post Day

DHAKA, July 29, 2018 (BSS) – Posts, Telecommunications and ICT Minister
Mustafa Jabbar today termed July 29 as the glorious day for Bangladesh Postal
Department saying initiatives would be taken to observe the day as National
Post Day.

Eight postage stamps were released on this day on behalf of Mujibnagar
Government from Bangladesh Mission’s in Kolkata and London as part of effort
to raise global opinion in support of liberation of Bangladesh.

“War of Liberation is our pride. By releasing those stamps, Mujibnagar
Government had revealed the existence of Independent Bangladesh globally. We
should re-release those stamps as we need to raise this important part of the
liberation to our young generation,” Jabbar said.

The minister said these while addressing a function on Postage Stamp Day
at the secretariat here today. Jabbar released a memorial postage stamp of
Taka five, a special folder of Taka 10 and a data card of Taka 5. A special
seal was used in this regard.

Posts and Telecommunication Division Secretary Shyam Sunder Sikder,
director general of postal department Susanta Kumar Mandal and Philatelic
Association of Bangladesh official Anwar Hossain Mollik addressed the
function, among others.
