Met Office forecasts heavy rainfall

DHAKA, July 29, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD)
today predicted that moderate to very heavy rainfall may occur at some places
over Chattogram, Sylhet, Mymensingh and Rangpur divisions in the next 24
hours ending at 9 am tomorrow.

“As a result of active monsoon, light to moderate rain or thundershowers
accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over
Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet
divisions with moderate to very heavy falls at some places over Chattogram,
Sylhet, Mymensingh and Rangpur divisions in next 24 hours commencing at 9 am
today,” said a Met bulletin issued here today.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly
unchanged over the country.

The maximum temperature was recorded 33 degrees celsius yesterday at
Dimla and Rajshahi in Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions respectively while
today’s minimum temperature 24.5 degrees celsius at Teknaf in Chattogram
division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded
133 mm at Khepupara in Barishal division.

The sun sets at 6:43 pm today and rises at 5:27 am tomorrow in the
capital.

Meanwhile, a Met office warning message said rain or thundershowers
accompanied by temporary South or South-Eesterly gusty or squally wind speed
45-60 kph is likely to occur in the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura,
Faridpur,Dhaka,Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali,
Cumilla,Chattogram, Sylhet and Cox’s Bazar.

River ports are advised to hoist cautionary signal number one.
