560 model mosques to be built
DHAKA, July 27, 2018 (BSS) – The government will build a total of 560 model
mosques across the country soon, a press release of Islamic Foundation (IF)
said.
“Model mosques will be constructed in each district and upazila of the
country,” Religious Affairs Secretary Md Anisur Rahman told a view exchange
meeting with divisional and district level officials in the conference room
of IF here today.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid foundation stone of nine mosques through
video conference on April 5, he said adding,”We are expecting to start
construction work of these mosques soon.”
Anisur said among these 560 model mosques, the construction work of nearly
300 will be started within December this year.
Director of the model mosque project M Abdul Hamid and senior officials of
the IF, among others attended the meeting with IF Director General Shamim
Mohammad Afzal in the chair.
