Joy inaugurates Software Quality Testing and Certification Centre

DHAKA, July 26, 2018 (BSS) – Prime Minister’s ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy today inaugurated Software Quality Testing and Certification (SQTC) Centre at the ICT Division at Agargaon in the city to build world standard software industry.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Joy said, “Bangladesh has advanced one step forward through the initiative for setting up the Software Quality Testing and Certification.”

There was no software testing lab in the country, he said adding, “We got certificate after testing software in the foreign countries.” It is a milestone progress for the software industry as Software Quality Testing and Certification (SQTC) Centre has been established in the country, Joy added.

Alongside opening the SQTC centre, Joy also inaugurated accelerator computer incident response team lab for startups aiming to develop 1000 innovative products by 2021, an official release said.

Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar, State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Secretary of ICT Division Zuneya Azizi, Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Partho Protim Dev, senior officials of the ICT Division and IT experts, among others, were present at the function.

Joy said the first ever accelerator computer incident response lab will supplement efforts of the government to develop entrepreneurs and help create employment opportunities for young population of the country.

The main aim of establishing such a center is to verify and validate software system in government offices, to create awareness and elevate the software testing industry in the country, to build capacity of resources to support desired growth in the software testing arena, the ICT Division sources said.

At the minimum, the center could conduct training programs that will produce functional testers, test automation engineers, performance test engineers, security test engineers, mobile test engineers, test managers, and project and program managers, they added.

They said the SQTC Center would also be very useful in the area of software testing, software development life cycle (SDLC), software project management and agile project management.
