Students asked to play their role in solving national crisis
SAVAR, July 26, 2018 (BSS) – Chairman of University Grants Commission
(UGC) Prof Abdul Mannan today said students must play a vital role in
resolving different national crisis with their talent and merit.
He made remarks while addressing an orientation programme arranged for
the first-year students under the academic session 2017-18 of Jahangirnagar
University (JU) held at Zahir Raihan auditorium on the campus.
Prof Mannan said the government is creating opportunities for
discovering and developing science and technology in different public
universities aiming to build skilled manpower.
He urged the JU authorities for ensuring the quality of education and
taking research projects.
Chaired by JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam, the function was
addressed, among others, by JU Treasurer Prof Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq and
Director of Student Welfare and Counseling Centre Prof Rasheda Akhter.
Over 2,400 students of the 2017-18 academic session were present at the
function.
