Belgian envoy pays farewell call on President

DHAKA, July 25, 2018 (BSS) – Non-resident Ambassador of Belgium to Bangladesh Jan Luykx paid a farewell call on President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban today.

“During the meeting, the President hoped that Belgium’s strong role will help strengthen international cooperation in resolving the ongoing Rohingya crisis,” President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS.

The President said the trade and investment relations between Bangladesh and Belgium are increasing gradually.

He stressed trade delegations’ exchange visits to utilize the potentials of Bangladesh and Belgium.

President Hamid also urged the Belgian government to take necessary steps to open a Belgian resident mission in Dhaka.

Appreciating the cooperation and hospitability of Bangladeshi people, the outgoing envoy said, “Many Belgian investors invest in various sectors, especially in the power and energy sectors, in Bangladesh.

The ambassador lauded the steps taken by Bangladesh on the Rohingya issue.

Secretaries concerned to the Bangabhaban were present on the occasion.
