Drug trader killed in Khulna ‘gunfight’

KHULNA, July 25, 2018 (BSS) – A drug trader was killed in a shootout
between the RAB members and his cohorts on Wednesday in Moheswarpasha area
under Daulatpur Police Station in the city.

The deceased was identified as Imran, son of Mizanur Rahman, a resident of
Daulatpur Deana area in the city.

The incident occurred around 2am when a team of the Rapid Action Battalion
(RAB) was patrolling in the area, said ASP Bazlur Rashid of RAB-6.

The RAB men gave a signal to a motorbike carrying three people to stop but
its driver gear up his speed ignoring the indication, he said.

Defying the signal, the motorcycle riders open fired targeting the law
enforcing agencies which prompted them to reiterate.

“After the gunfight, the RAB team recovered wounded Imran and rushed him
to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) where duty doctors declared him
dead,” the RAB official said, adding that the law enforcers also recovered
308 pieces of yaba tablets, a revolver and three rounds of bullet from the
spot.

Imran is a listed criminal and an accused of 6 to 7 drug cases with
Daulatpur Police Station.
