Archery team leave for France tomorrow

DHAKA, June 16 2021 (BSS)- An eight-member of Bangladesh archery team leave here for France tomorrow (Thursday) morning to take part in the Tokyo Olympic Games “Archery final qualification tournament (June 18-21) and “Archery World Cup Stage-3” (June 21-27) scheduled to be held from June 18-28.

The eight-member archery team including four men’s archers and equal number of women’s archers will compete in the recurve division in the men’s singles and men’s team event, women’s singles and women’s team event and recurve mixed team event.

City Group is the chief patron of the Bangladesh archery team, cooperated by Youth and Sports Ministry, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Air Force and Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan.

In this regard, a press conference was held today at Bangladesh Olympic Association auditorium to provide all the details of the meet.

Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF) president Lieutenant general Mohammad Moinul Islam (retd.) BAF general secretary Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapal, City Group brand manager Rubaiyat Ahmed, team manager Faruk Dhal and national archery team’s head coach Martin Frederick, were among others present in the press conference.

Earlier, Bangladesh archery team comprising Ruman Sana and Diya Siddique won silver medal in the recurve mixed team event of Archery World Cup stage-2 after losing to second-ranked Netherlands held last month in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Bangladesh Archery team: Ruman Sana, Ram Krishna Saha, Mohammad Hakim Ahmed Rubel, Abdur Rahman Alif archer- recurve men’s), Beauty Roy, Diya Siddique, Mehnaz Akter Monira and Nasrin Akter (archer-recurve women’s).
