Tremor jolts Sylhet again

SYLHET, June 7, 2021 (BSS) – A minor earthquake jolted different parts of Sylhet around 6.29pm today.

Senior Meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) at Sylhet office Sayeed Ahmed Chowdhury told BSS that the magnitude of the earthquake was 3.8 on the Richter scale.

The origin of the tremor was 188 kilometer northeast from the capital city Dhaka, he said.

However, the locals claimed that they felt two tremors within two minutes. But no casualty was reported.

Earlier, on May 29, five earthquakes jolted Sylhet within 24 hours in the day.
